The assault caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
