Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then located many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis show the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for tips.
An important official stated the incident made him without words and had to be resolved quickly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
